Carthage Water & Electric Plant (CWEP) is celebrating Public Power Week, October 4–10, 2026! This annual celebration highlights the benefits of community-owned, not-for-profit electricity and the local people who help keep Carthage powered every day.
As part of the celebration, CWEP invited students from Carthage R-9 elementary schools to participate in our Public Power Week Coloring Contest. This fun activity encouraged our youngest community members to learn about the role safe, reliable, and affordable electricity plays in their everyday lives.
One winner was selected from each grade at each participating school. We’re excited to celebrate their creativity and share their artwork with our community!
The winning artwork is on display in the CWEP lobby throughout Public Power Week and featured below. Take a look, and join us in congratulating these young artists! Thank you to all the students and teachers who helped make this year’s contest a success.
