CARTHAGE, Mo. — August 31, 2026 — Carthage Water & Electric Plant (CWEP) will begin Phase One of a parking lot improvement project at its main complex on Tuesday, September 1. The project will replace the existing asphalt in the west parking lot with concrete to provide a more durable, long-term surface.
To minimize interruptions to customers and maintain access to CWEP’s drive-thru services throughout construction, the project will be completed in two phases. Phase One will focus on the east portion of the West Parking Lot, allowing the west drive-thru lane and payment kiosk to remain accessible. Both phases of the project are expected to take approximately two to three weeks to complete, weather and construction conditions permitting.
Customer Access During Phase One
Customers visiting the CWEP complex should be aware of the following temporary changes:
- Drive-Thru Access: Customers should enter through the Centennial Avenue entrance to access the drive-thru.
- Drive-Thru Lane: Only the west drive-thru lane will be open during Phase One.
- Payment Kiosk: CWEP’s payment kiosk will remain open and accessible through the west drive-thru lane. Customers may also use CWEP’s additional payment kiosk located at King Cash Saver, 1223 W. Central Ave.
- Drop Box: The customer payment drop box will remain accessible from the sidewalk along Centennial Avenue.
- West Parking Lot: No customer parking will be available in the west parking lot during the construction process.
Customer Service Lobby Remains Open
CWEP’s Customer Service Lobby will remain open during regular business hours throughout Phase One.
Customers visiting the lobby may park along Centennial Avenue, in CWEP’s East parking lot, or in the new parking lot directly across the street from the East parking lot.
