CWEP Announces Upcoming Electrical System Upgrades

CWEP Announces Upcoming Electrical Upgrades to Support Growth and Reliability
CARTHAGE, MO, Tuesday, August 19th - 2025 — Carthage Water & Electric Plant (CWEP) will soon begin a major electrical infrastructure upgrade to improve system reliability, expand electric capacity, and support future growth in the Carthage area.
Beginning Monday, August 25, 2025 CWEP and its certified contractor, Utility Line Construction Services (ULCS), will start construction on a new feeder circuit running from Substation 2 on Fairview Avenue, down Hazel Avenue, and continuing to Airport Drive. This feeder will serve the future industrial park, ease load demand on the southwest side of town, and prepare Carthage for continued economic development.
In preparation for this project, utility lines are currently being marked along the route. Residents may also notice that poles have already been placed in easements along Fairview and Hazel Avenues—an early step to help streamline the installation process.
Crews will work Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. throughout the duration of this multi-month project. While work is underway, single-lane closures may occur in affected areas. CWEP will continue to provide updates as the project progresses.
“We are committed to providing Carthage with reliable, local, and affordable services 24/7,” said Meagan Milliken, CWEP Public Relations Manager. “These upgrades are a critical investment in the future of our community and its growing energy needs.”
